It’s indescribable when someone you’ve shared memories & time with passes away. It’s threads of memory interwoven with someone else, and now the threads are gone. The dream is suddenly sharper , clearer but also frayed and missing bits of magic. I will never see this person again, their posts will never pop up on my feed and I will never share another moment in time with them in this realm. I say this because my sweet friend Mika passed away last month. It’s hard to understand how someone who was so gritty, raw and rough around the edges couldn’t handle this life anymore. How people that look strong and unwavering are actually just as breakable as me- if not more. Mika was the first photographer to work with me back in 2012, we took so many pictures together, and though we may not have always agreed on how to present our art…he was always there working with me to create it. He was generous and inviting and that isn’t something I’ll forget. We took hundreds of images and shared ice cream sundaes, pineapple pizza, sushi and even did a pedicure day! On one particularly grueling evening he bought me a Neti pot when I came down with a sudden cold after a long shoot. He also gave me a personal camera that he no longer used and gave me a few lessons in his spare time. It was never boring with Mika around…and I have countless modeling photos and memories with him. In total we worked together from 2012-2017. Here are some of our artistic moments in tribute to his spirit and our shared thread of happy moments….

Rest easy, Mika…you were loved by so many friends. Thank you for being a part of my life.
