During our stay in Oahu we took a little tour of 21 degrees chocolate farm, a place where they grow chocolate pods and other tropical plants & fruits.

There were wild plants of all kinda and cute little goats with floral leis. Apparently goat yoga is a thing on this farm, the goats sit on the participants while they work out and stretch. They also eat the foliage, essentially helping to keep all the weeds & plants trimmed.

At the start of the tour we took a rather long walk around the farm, listening to all the scientific facts about bees, chocolate pods, turmeric and other tropical plant species. The dude was long winded….

My sister and I were kinda sweltering under the hot sun, and I still cant believe they made us stand and listen to a chocolate lecture in humid 85+ degree weather for over an hour & a half with no refreshments (we came for chocolate, not a master level college course !) At any rate, once we got seated things got a little better…

Here you can see raw chocolate fruit, basically the seeds of a chocolate pod. We tasted the fruit and all of us agreed it had a sweet essence. The flesh was soft, white and had a very juicy texture. After the fruit was passed around we were then served a variety of chocolate pieces.

Each chocolate square was from a different chocolate bar and had its own unique flavor depending on whatever sugars or flavoring was added to the recipe. We were also served an amazing truffle that I can only describe as heavenly ~

After the lecture ended we went to their tiny boutique of chocolate gifts & goodies and had an amazing ice cream made with chocolate-fruit syrup! OMG – I ate it so fast that I didn’t even get a picture.
